Cavazos Boxing “Desporado Boxing Fest” 7-26-2013

Anthony Cavazos and his boxing promotion have been a fixture here in South Texas for some time and his show are always fun to watch because it always showcases fighters from the Valley. On a hot summer night on the grounds of Desporado Harley Davidson, Cavazos delivered another incredible show on the efforts of some of the valley’s finest boxers. The paid attendance for the show was a very respectable was 934 spectators paying a gate of $29,335. Headlining the show was Mission’s Isaac Torres taking on Brownsville’s Gilbert Cancino.

 Triple A Promotions 8-16-2013

Triple A Promotions(not the lucha libre promotion AAA) is another promotion that has been making create strides here in the valley and its evident in their showcase of the return of Robert “La Amenaza” Garcia. The show drew a paid attendance of 750 and drew a gate of $29,335. Triple A Promotions will be making their return to the Valley(Harlingen, TX) this weekend with Sergio Perales headlining the event.

STFC Vendetta 9-6-2013

I’ll be quite honest, I don’t think the numbers that were given to me by the state are correct. They seem too low for what I witnessed in person but nonetheless, here are the numbers. STFC Vendetta drew a paying crowd of 386 with a gate of $12,150. The main event featured Brownsville’s Luis Vega taking on Houston’s David Armas with The Pride of Santa Rosa, Fabian Saldivar fighting in the co-main event.

Mario Davila Boxing 10/5/2013

The newest promotion throwing their name in the valley boxing market is attorney Mario Davila. Davila’s inaugural show produced a impressive attendance of 802(even if the event center looked like a ghost town) producing a live gate of $32,571. The main event featured Edinburg’s own, Raul “El Tigre” Cazares taking on Quinton Whitaker.

STFC Carnage 11-1-2013

STFC Carnage presented a landmark event with Monica Flores taking on Maria Lopez for the first ever STFC WMMA main event with Saul Elizondo taking on David Armas serving as the co-main event. STFC Carnage had a paid attendance of 1229 tickets producing a gate of $36,840 with the $75 tickets producing $22,725 in ticket sales. In addition, STFC is also listed as selling 600 tickets for $5. I don’t recall this being advertised but it was a great move by STFC in order to get more butts in the seats to witness history the in the making.
