STFC 34 – Battle at the Beach

STFC 34 will be going down this Saturday at the SPI Convention Center headlined by Danny Salinas(12-6) taking on Gemiyale “Baby Hercules” Adkins(10-8) who is billed from Killen, Texas. The last time we saw the “Dangerous” one, he was kicking a head into the first row at the expense of Booker Arthur. Speaking of Salinas, am I the only one who wants a catch weight superfight between Saldivar and Salinas? The two were schedule to fight a few STFC cards ago but was scrapped due to Saldivar suffering an injury during his training camp. Some folks might think its a bit premature since Saldivar is just on his second title defense BUT there is no time like the present and I’m sure fans would love to see the Valley’s best duke it out.  Tell me that main event wouldn’t sell out and then I’ll shut up about it.

Okay, enough fantasy booking. Back to  “Battle at the Beach” …

The co-main event is Weslaco native Amador Ramirez(4-3) taking on Joel Scott(2-3) who resides from UGK country, Port Arthur, Texas in a clash of bantamweights. Both fighters are coming off losses against tough opponents and are looking to bounce back. Scott’s most notable victory came against boxer/mma fighter Ricardo Palacios last summer. Ramirez’s most notable victory comes by submission over Miguel Vega.

The under card is laced with notable Valley fighters such as grappling expert Stephen Perez taking on Edgar Juarez from Houston. Carlos Diego breed fighter, Guilherme Farias Da Costa(1-0) will also be making his 2nd appearance in an STFC cage and will be facing Houston’s Edwynn “Ox”Jones(6-33) in another catchweight bash.

In a clash between neighboring cities, Brownsville’s Roldan Abundis (0-1) will be taking on Harlingen’s Jorge Cortez(3-10). Abundis will be making his debut for STFC but made his pro debut this past January against the “RGV Bad Boy”, Gilbert Urbina. Cortez will be making his 7th appearance for STFC and will be looking to capture his first win in the promotion.

Sonny Aguirre(0-0), representing Team Sitkayan, will be making his pro debut against Manny Soria (0-3). Fans last saw Sonny defeating Jaime Palacios via decision in May of last year for Noe Beltran’s promotion, Texas Rage in the Cage. Soria last fought against Kody Perez at featherweight in July and is seeking that elusive first win. May the best man win.

Another representive of Team Sitkayan, Rolando Rodriguez, will also be making his debut against Issac Matamoros . Matamoros was initially slated to make his debut for HERO FC but the fight was scrapped at the last minute. The last time Rolando fought was on the same card as his Team Sitkayan brethren but he was not as fortunate as Aguirre.

Tickets are $30 and you can purchase them from M&M Offroad Center, Cinco MMA-EliteCorralejo’s Liquor Store, and the fighters.
