Palacios and Elizondo on Combate Americas Tonight, STFC 39 Lineup Released and Montalvo Stripped of Belt

Ricardo “El Gallero” Palacios(6-1) will be fighting on tonight’s Combate Americas show which can be seen on UFC Fight Pass. Palacios will be looking to extend his winning streak to three and put on an explosive performance against Colorado native, Brandon Royvl(3-1). This bantamweight clash will have huge implications as it sets up who will be placed in the title matches later this summer. Saul “El Mero Mero” Elizondo will also be fighting on the same card tonight but I’m not too sure if his fight will be televised on UFC Fight Pass.  What I do know about Elizondo is that he was just announced as the a feature fight for the upcoming STFC 39 event.

STFC booker, Raul Ramos, dropped a stacked card for STFC 39 that will be happening on July 16th. The event will be headlined by STFC lightweight champion Luke Flores. The last time we saw Flores was in the Bellator cage when he rearranged Gilbert Jimenez’s intestines via leg kicks. Flores will be taking on the returning Ivan Eduardo Perez Ruvalcaba who we haven’t seen in quite some time. The last I remember of Ruvalcaba was him taking on Danny Salinas in a title rematch. Word is that Ruvalcaba has been active in the Mexico MMA scene so this fight is going to be interesting one way or another. The co-main event will feature a rematch of Leroy Martinez taking on Saul Elizondo. These last two squared up against each other back in November of 2014 where Martinez was announced as the winner via split decision. After being defeated by Martinez, Elizondo has yet to find the win column in his last two fights.

Serving as the undercard will be the return of Fabian Saldivar after a year of inactivity since his last fight in July of 2015.  Saldivar has been busy traveling the BJJ circuits honing his submission skills which could be something new from “The Pride of Santa Rosa.” Saldivar will be fighting rising prospect, Zachary Farrington. Farrington has yet to see the lost column in both his amateur and professional career and a win over Saldivar could be a milestone victory in Farrington’s career. Farrington is currently 2-0 in his professional career.

There are so many names notable names on this card such as the return of Abram Torres taking on heavy-handed Guillermo Gonzalez. Guilherme Farias Da Costa will also be appearing on the card taking on MMA veteran Gilbert “The Pitbull” Jimenez. In addition, the STFC debut of Cinco Elite owner, Eli Rodriguez, will also be on the card against Roldan Abundis. This is without a doubt, in my mind at least, the best card Raul Ramos has put together. The three names on the poster alone could headline any STFC event (Martinez/Elizondo already has) but the combination of them will definitely guarantee a sellout crowd.
