I’ve yet to see the pre-UFC fights of “Judo” Jim Hettes, but if his first fight against Alex Caceres is any indication, he’s an incredibly exciting prospect. Great scrambler, good submission skills and great Judo. He tapped Caceres in an exciting fight on the Chris Lytle Farewell Parade™ (UFC Live: Hardy vs Lytle) in August.
Nam Phan does posses the striking advantage, for a brief moment he actually held the FightMetric record for most significant strikes ever landed during a UFC fight (which was in his latest fight against Leonard Garcia at UFC 136). Eventually that record was broken at UFC 137, when Diaz put a massive beatdown on Penn. Phan has some sharp shots to the body and could put together some good combinations. If he can keep the fight standing it should be his fight, but I think Hettes is going to control and win the fight due to his grappling.
