As 2011 came to an end, so did Adrian Hernandez’s WBC light-flyweight title reign. On December 23rd, Hernandez lost via KO to Kompayak Porpramook in a “Fight of the Year Candidate” in Thailand. He beat Oswaldo Fuentes and Ivan Diaz before getting a rematch against the man who dethroned him. This time, the fight took place in Hernandez’s homeland in Mexico on October 6th. The action packed fight ended with Hernandez getting his hand raised in the sixth frame. The ferocious pace of Hernandez was just too much for the top 108 lbs. fighter from Thailand. If you missed the fight, we covered it here on TGS.
Hernandez is facing Dirceu Cabarca this Saturday night on TV Azteca. I don’t know much about Cabarca, but from what I’ve read, it seems like Hernandez doesn’t have much to worry about. What we can expect to see is Hernandez putting forth an exciting, showcase performance.
A Spanish interview and preview with Hernandez, his trainer Nacho Beristain, and his opponent Dirceu Cabarca:
