This Saturday Night: Cloud vs Hopkins

The last two times we saw Bernard Hopkins, we saw a terrible ending and a really boring fight. Those fights with Dawson were pretty soul crushing fights. Yet I’m pretty excited about seeing Hopkins fight against Cloud. Hopkins’ second fight with Jean Pascal is one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t a fight of the year contender, not a barn burner by any means. It was a legendary athlete putting on a beautiful, world title winning performance at the age of 46. I’m interested in seeing if Hopkins still has something left in the tank, and if he can break his own record. Whatever happens, I’m sure it will at least be better than the Hopkins-Dawson fights.

The co-main event will feature Keith Thurman taking on Jan Zaveck in welterweight competition. We last saw Thurman destroying Puerto Rican Carlos Quintana in four rounds. Not familiar with Zavec, but knowing what what Thurman can produce, this should be an exciting co-feature.
