Underwood Promotions Presents: Riverside Rumble

This coming Saturday Underwood Promotions will be having their first event live from the world famous Emo’s titled “Riverside Rumble”. The card will feature eight fights, two title events and a whole load of sweet science by up-and-coming prospects from Austin and the state of Texas.

Headlining the show is Kenton Sippio-Cook(8-3) from Austin taking on Joey Dunmoodie(9-2-2) from Forth Worth for the vacant Texas junior middleweight title. Sippio-Cook has a 45% finishing rate while Dunmoodie has let the judges decide the majority of his bouts. Dunmoodie is the most seasoned out of both fighters with 53 rounds of action compared to 40 rounds of action for Sippio-Cook. Addtionaly, Sippio-Cook has been the most active fighter with three fights in 2016 while Dunmoodie hasn’t fought since April of last year.

Sharing the marquee is Austin’s Carlos Trevino(5-5-1) against Christian Faz(3-3-3) for the vacant Texas super featherweight title. Faz’s last three bouts have all been draws and while Trevino has gone 2-1. Niether men are finishers so I would expect this fight to go the distance.

There will also be two fighters making their professional debut on “Riverside Rumble”, Larry Luckett and Josh Hayden. Luckett will be taking on San Antonio’s Daniel Sanchez who has yet to see the win column in his 18 fights as a professional. In Sanchez’s four year professional career, he has faced nine fighters who were making their debut and has been finished in five of those fights. Hayden will be taking on fellow cruiserweight Cedric Sheppard who has four professional fights under his belt. The first two fights will be interesting since neither of the four men have a win and all will be making sure that they get their hand raised at the end of their respective bout. Sheppard, like Sanchez, has also not fared well against debuting fighters. In three of his four fights, he has faced debuting fighters and was TKO’d in those three bouts. It’s pretty evident that Sanchez and Sheppard are enhancement talents, meaning they are only used to make other fighters look good, but I love an underdog story so I’m pulling for both Sheppard and Sanchez to capture that elusive “W”.

Weigh-ins

Weigh-ins will be held next to Emo’s at Grizzly Hall at noon. Weigh-ins are always an exhausting exercise of patience due to doctors doing last minute physicals, fighters showing up late and other logistical issues. With that said, I think it’s safe to say it’s good to get there at noon but be prepared to wait a bit before the fighters hit the scales.
