Omar Figueroa stops Ramon Ayala on ShoBox: The Next Generation

Weslaco’s Omar Figueroa fought this past Friday night in the headliner to the March 16th edition of ShoBox: The New Generation. He wasn’t able to make weight, so the title that was on the line was only winnable for his opponent, Ramon Ayala (no relation to the iconic Norteño accordionist from Mexico or the great conjunto bajo sexto player from Donna). The power advantage was clear as “El Panterita” just completely overwhelmed him with powerful punches. The fight was a showcase for the aggressive and exciting fighting style of Figueroa. He finished off Ayala in the 2nd round with a brutal flurry of strikes that started with a sharp left hook to the liver.
