Live from the McAllen Convention Center, STFC returns this Friday night, September 6th, with another line-up of regional mixed martial arts action.

Titled “STFC 26 – Vendetta”, the card is headlined by Brownsville’s Luis Vega (9-3) and Houston’s David Armas (4-8). The fight is being promoted as a title-eliminator; the winner will go on to challenge STFC featherweight kingpin Javi Obregon in the near-future.

Vega first competed with the organization back when it was still called the South Texas Fight League. In his pro and promotion debut, he lost to James King via three judges awarding the fight 29-28 in King’s favor. Inside the STFC, he never lost again, winning four times – TKO’ing Michael Salazar (STFC 14), submitting Andre Garza (STFC 16), outpointing Jose Cabral (STFC 17) and KO’ing Johnny Garcia (STFC 19). In his time away from the organization, he fought at E-3 promotions, Hybrid Boxing MMA, Fightfest, Bellator Fighting Championship, Premier Fight Series and Rocks Xtreme MMA. His latest win, a split decision victory, comes in that latter promotion, against Christopher Pecero.

For Armas, he is making his STFC debut tomorrow night. He is a veteran of Legacy Fighting Championship, as he’s competed there on six separate occasions. His latest fight saw Armas fall to Cody Williams at IXFA 9 via unanimous decision. Tomorrow night, he attempts to end his two-loss streak by defeating Vega and gaining a shot at Obregon’s crown.

The co-feature of the evening involves Santa Rosa’s Fabian Anthony Saldivar (2-1) taking on Corpus Christi native Kirk Hubble (2-2). While Saldivar’s first STFC fight was a split decision loss to Joseph Tipton at STFC 21, he recovered showed his true potential in two back-to-back TKO wins – a body kick put down Mark Beltran at STFC 23; elbows from the mount finished George Ted Powery.

Hubble is returning back to the STFC after 11 months. During that 11-month period, he competed in Rocks Xtreme MMA II and Legacy Fighting Championship 20. In his last fight, Hubble secured a unanimous decision win over Gerald Gagnon.

The rest of the card includes: Joel Castillo (1-0) vs Raul Ponce (1-2), Miguel Vega (1-0) vs David Salazar (1-3), Miguel Bustos Jr. (1-0) vs Daniel Cervantes (1-1), Eric Bernal (0-1) vs Manuel Soria III (0-1), Victor Martinez (0-2) vs Juan Pina (0-0), Elias Marks (4-3) vs Adrian Torres (0-0).
