After pulling out of STFC 25 against Danny Salinas citing injury, Fabian Saldivar(2-1) will now meet Corpus Christi native Kirk Hubble (2-2) in the co-main event of STFC 26. This will not be Hubble’s first time in the STFC cage, back in 2012 he defeat Miguel Flores at STFC 22 by KO. For trivia buffs, Hubble’s first opponent in his MMA career was none other than David Armas who is taking on Luis Vega in the Main Event of STFC 26. Hubble is coming off a big win for the Legacy Promotion and looks to continue his streak by defeating the returning Saldivar.
Speaking of Legacy Fighting Championships, MMAJunkie.com is reporting Danny Salinas will take on UFC veteran and San Antonio native Pete Spratt in the main event of Legacy FC 23 in San Antonio Sept 13 which will air on AXS TV. This will mark the 2nd time that a STFC fighter will have a televised main event. The first to do so was grappling guru, Carlos Diego Ferreira who coincidentally took the STFC Welterweight gold strap from the waist of Salinas back at STFC Bad Blood in February. If Salinas puts on an impressive showing, who knows, we could possibly see Ferreira/Salinas II on a future televised Legacy event. If so, BOOK IT IN THE VALLEY~!
Getting back to the STFC 26 card, also slated to grace the STFC cage is Joel Castillo taking on Raul Ponce(1-2) in a heavyweight showdown that should not disappoint any ticket buyer. Castillo had an impressive debut against Javier Rendon at STFC 25 and earned himself a KO victory in the 2nd round. This is one bout that shouldn’t go to the cards and should be full of haymakers and chingasos.
Just recently announced on Facebook, a battle between Laredo and the RGV. Victor Martinez will be flying the flag for the RGV in his battle with Yail Eligio. One of the Valley’s finest, Miguel Bustos, will be entering the cage instead of putting people in a cage against Laredo native Daniel Cervantes.
