Omar “Panterita” Figueroa’s Next Fight Will be Against Nihito Arakawa in July

ESPN broke the news that the pride of the Valley by way of Weslaco, Omar Figueroa (21-0-1, 17 KOs), will be returning to the ring against Japan’s 31-year-old southpaw Nihito Arakawa(24-2-1, 16 KO’s) for the soon to be vacant title that is currently held by Adrien Broner. Broner is moving up two weight divisons to fight the “Magic Man” Paulie Malignaggi on June 22.

The fight will be held once again in San Antonio from the AT&T Center on Saturday July 27th(We need a Figueroa fight down here, Golden Boy) which is quickly becoming a 2nd home for the 23-year-old valley native. The fight will be televised on Showtime and will be part of a fantastic triple-header that is headlined by Andre Berto making his return since his classic fight with Robert Guerrero last year against Jesus Soto Karass.
