This Friday night at the McAllen Convention Center, two titles will be on the line at STFC 24. The first title to be up for grabs is the STFC lightweight crown that is currently held by Edinburg’s Danny Salinas.

The company champion will be attempting to redeem himself after suffering a headkick KO loss to Mike Bronzoulis. That setback for Salinas took place last Summer at the now infamous UWF promotion. Before that loss, Salinas had been riding a three fight win streak that included two wins against Ivan Perez Ruvalcava (El Goyito’s brother) and Isaias Martinez. Salinas is tough and gritty, he’s going to try to use his experience (11 wins and 4 losses) against the local BJJ ace.

Carlos Diego Ferreira is catching on like a wildfire down here in el magico Valle. If you go to a weigh-in or a local fight, you’ll find a passionate gang of Ferreira’s supporters. Originally from Manaus, Brazil, the dynamic grappler is constantly testing his skills against the very elite in the grappling world. It’s not rare to see his videos pop up online, and see the BJJ black belt face worldclass grapplers like Andre Galvao and Bill Cooper. Iron sharpens iron and Ferreira is consistently working towards sharpening his skills. At this point in time, Ferreira has a 5-0 MMA record with wins over Joseph Daily (current STFC welterweight champion), Clinton Roberts, Hector Munoz, Travonne Hobbs, and Jorge Cortez. As was evident in his last fight with Cortez, Ferreira has worked on his striking skills thus adding another element to his arsenal.

Despite their difference in overall MMA experience, it’s safe to say that Salinas is going to enter the cage as the underdog. Will Ferreira prove that assumption correct and add Salinas to his list of victims? Or will Salinas prevail and upset Ferreira in his 12th STFC appearance?
